A little bit about me.
To sum up this intro I will say this. Create your world. You don’t have to be caught up in everything going on around you. Go at your own pace, relax, find yourself, and live the life you see fit.
I am currently 17 years old. I live somewhere between a rock and a hard place. I’d like to think of myself as a sort of social justice warrior but I’m a lot like your not so average teen. I like talking to people, it makes me feel warm. Hearing someone’s story, the journey they are on, challenges they are facing. It is all very inspiring and mind-boggling. To hear how far they have come, how they go through their day, when they feel most content. Being around people, and also being alone, are such different experiences, exhilarating in their own way. I’ll hear that I’m boring a lot of the time because I don’t like hanging out with people all that much. In reality I like observing people. It is much more satisfying to watch and learn than to engage in all of the foolishness. Being alone helps me imagine, create, dream. Like right now I am sitting on this couch minding my business and there are four people around me. I am alone but at the same time surrounded by activity. Two are on their phones, one is playing a game on their iPad, and the other is folding clothes. Because I’m not involved in the activity I can observe and document. Not to say that any of their activity is foolish, but it’s different than what I am currently doing.
I am seeing myself in an indoor garden. An open space with white chairs and tables, there are green plants around. Everyone in here is on a computer, typing away. We are on such different paths but still doing the same things. I am writing a blog post. The man across from me seems stressed so he is probably working on a pressing activity. The woman to my right keeps laughing so I assume she is either watching something or video-chatting a very funny acquaintance. My hair is in a bun, and my scarf is now a make-do headband to tame the fly-away strands. I’m wearing my black halter and some leggings, a brown cardigan and some black platforms. All of this I see so clearly. But once I look up from my computer screen I am still in this living room.
